Photo Essay: United Airlines Now Have Two Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners
I’m at Houston-Intercontinental Airport today (2 November, 2012) and noticed that United Airlines (UA) had two Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners by the hangars.
Here are some pictures:

Flew the UA 787 recently completely without expecting to and I realize that a lot of the advances in this aircraft are in areas the average passenger will never appreciate but, from a customer’s viewpoint, I felt a bit underwhelmed. Maybe I had built it up too much in my mind but I did appreciate the new lavatories and the not one, or two, but three ways to flush. Cool lighting and easier door to deal with too. Felt the handles to the overhead cabin baggage compartments were too high for a lot of people and the electronic window dimmer is a dumb idea – technology triumphing over ease and practicality. Can see a lot of maintenance issues with this but I am assuming these are factors Boeing has already considered. The already good UA AVOD system has been updated, though the screens are smaller than what EK, EY, and QR currently offer. I felt that the aircraft also seems more noisy, especially on landing, than the brilliant 777 whose interior architecture is equally sleek and less overwrought and than on the newer 787. Will be interesting to hear the opinions of others.
