On
Sunday, October 11, 1998, at 6:35 a.m. CO's flight 201 pushed back, by 6:56 a.m. we were
airborne. At 8:51 a.m. we touched down in Houston, one of the best landing I've ever
had! With the 777, reverse thrusters are really very quiet. We pulled into the
gate at 8:58 a.m. At 10:36 a.m. we pushed back, the wheels left the ground at 10:57
a.m. As we pushed back, CO's DC-3 appeared and we paused as it went by. What a
treat! Do you think that was planned?
On our approach to Los Angeles, we were
flanked by an Air New Zealand Boeing 747-400 on our left, and a Malaysia Airlines MD-11,
quite exceptional. The main gears gracefully touched down at 11:43 a.m. At
11:50 a.m. we pulled into the gate, shut the engines down and was towed the rest of the
way. What a flight!
Here are a few pictures.

Taken at about 5:05 a.m. in Newark.
N78001 awaits its long journey. Sorry the shot was not a better one.

I tried to get another one, but the
glare was a bit too much.

A quick stop in Houston at gate 46,
actually, this photo was taken on the return to Houston.

A much better shot in Los Angeles at
gate 69A. It is very tight here! |
