Boeing
767-400 Rollout! |
August 26, 1999. I arrived in Everett, Washington at 1:05 p.m. I was worried. Earlier, the traffic through downtown Seattle was horrendous. It had taken me 20 minutes to move less than a mile. But now, it was smooth sailing. I had arrived at the site of the rollout of Boeing's newest "toy," The Boeing 767-400ER. After jockeying for a place to watch, I settled on the parking lot of a factory that overlooked the Boeing Factory. This was a popular choice by others as well. All our invitations got lost in the mail it seemed:-). At 2 p.m. right on schedule, the ceremonies commenced. A Boeing personnel started the ceremonies, I think it may have been Phil Condit, I could be wrong. From my distant vantage point I could make out using my 200mm lens, Larry Kellner, Continental Airlines' (CO) Executive VP and CFO as well as what looked like Leo Mullin, Delta Air Lines' (DL) CEO. DL is the launch customer for the airplane. Also, present were a representative from General Electric, the engine manufacture. After about three speeches, the fanfare started with a marching band. Here is the event in pictures. Please enjoy. |
