Boeing 757-300 Roll Out!

May 31, 1998.   It was 2:15 p.m. as we left the Wendy's in Renton, WA just south of Seattle, and headed towards Parking Lot 6, and then to Area K9.  I was excited beyond belief, this was my first time to a roll out and I had no idea what to expect.
  The sidewalks were loaded with people!  I guess the 70 degree and sunny weather contributed.  We parked, walked to the gate, got on line and before we knew it, we were on Boeing property and ready to witness history.
  At 2:40 p.m. the M.C. welcomed everyone, then introduced the Commercial Airplane Group's President, Ron Woodward.  As soon as he began to speak, the speakers near us gave out.  The only words we heard were "Hello," and "Thank You." After he was done someone else spoke, however, since we could not hear anything I have no idea who was the second speaker.  We did however hear when the Managing Director, Dr. Dietmar Kirchner (the third speaker) of Condor, the launch customer, was introduced.   I later found out, via a press release that he ordered additional 757-300s during his short speech.
  Now it was time to bring the star of the show center stage.  As we clapped, the longest single aisle airplane was towed towards us.  The last few yards was pulled by 50 suppliers, etc.  It was a sight to behold (Boeing has pics on their site)!  In minutes, we were all invited to touch the 178 feet 7 inches (54.5 meters) beauty.  It was great.  You too can get up close and personal by clicking here.
